[It's another New Feather cycle, and Saleh is hard at work as per usual. Things have been pretty calm for him lately, which is a rather welcome change. He still misses Ewan, but his duty gives him a good distraction from his own troubles. And by helping others, he also helps himself.]

Another New Feather cycle is upon us, it seems. For those who have newly arrived, I am sorry to say that we cannot return to our worlds by our own means. However, I will do what I can to help you get acquainted and somewhat comfortable. I can be found frequently in the forest, so if you are lost, I would gladly guide you to the village.

Meanwhile, the New Feather stations need to be restocked, so I shall see to that.

[Saleh can be found anywhere between the Welcome Center and the New Feather stations located at several points in the forest. When leaving the Welcome Center, he is carrying larger sacks than normal – sacks with clothing, food, and medical supplies. He will be happy to help out any newbies, or just as willing to chat with old companions or even strangers.]
mountain_sage: (Fire)
[Well, it's been a good few weeks. Saleh and Ewan are back from their journey and are ready to settle back into civilization.]

We're back...Ewan and I, I mean. It was rather uneventful, but we enjoyed just being together, surrounded by the beauty of Luceti's landscape. Embracing nature's creation is one of the best ways to build strength of body and mind. I could sure use a trip to the hot springs after this, though...

[What better way to finish off a journey through the wilderness than to cleanse oneself in the springs? And true to his word, after washing himself at home, he'll head over to the hot springs to take a soak.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[A few months back, Saleh and Ewan had made a decision to take a journey throughout the enclosure, to explore the terrains, and train themselves in survival. Now that he's heard some disturbing news, he's even more ready to take that trip. However, that was still a few weeks away, and he knows he'd better stick to the original plan. However, now would be a good time to start preparing, gathering supplies, and settling any affairs with their comrades in the village before they leave, because they'll expect to be gone for some time, perhaps a week or two. So Saleh picks up his journal and makes an open announcement.]

In just a few short weeks...on June 1st, to be precise, Ewan and I will be leaving on a journey to explore the enclosure. We'll expect to be gone for a few weeks, at least. So if anyone has any business with either of us, it's best to take care of it before we leave.

[Action]

[Saleh will spend some time sulking in his room before going out for his usual errands. Catch him at the grocery shop or the item shop, or anywhere in between.]

[OOC: Feel free to ask for either Saleh or Ewan in your tags. ♥]
mountain_sage: (Fire)
[Well, it's been almost a month since Saleh had received the Excalibur tome. It was past time that he tried it out, to see if he was ready to use it, or otherwise see where he stands in his magic studies.]

[So he heads to the Battle Dome and programs a basic scene, an open field of grass and clear blue skies. He feels the breeze blowing softly around him...it's perfect.]

[Opening the green tome, he studies it intently, and then extends his free hand, concentrating. However, nothing happens. No manipulation of the wind. Just the gentle breeze blowing as nature wills it. After a moment, Saleh gives up, catching his breath.]

So I'm not yet ready...

[He ends the simulation and steps out, still staring at the cover of the tome. He may not be able to wield it, but he can feel how close he is. So much power, so close, and yet so far away. Saleh can't help but feel the desire to wield this sacred power. Perhaps Kain was right, this was something worth striving for. He has reasons to continue his training and improve. The Excalibur spell was only one of them. The other reason was that his student had arrived. By training Ewan, he could train himself further. They would both become more powerful.]

[But all of that would happen in due time. Saleh gently closes the tome and begins to leave the Battle Dome. He can be caught as he leaves, or later sitting by the fountain plaza.]
mountain_sage: (Wandering Sage)
[Well, this is certainly a nice change of scenery. Saleh glances out his window at the snow, but he can't tell if it's the natural weather, or another experiment happening, such as on Halloween. Perhaps some of the residents have been working on the decorations.]

[As he leaves the window, he spots the little elf sitting nicely on his mostly empty bookshelf. Now he knows that wasn't here before. The way it's staring at him is quite unsettling. Cautiously, he approaches the little creature to get a closer look at it. The elf greets him cheerfully, explaining its purpose. It then gives its first request, to give a gift to all of his friends. Saleh remains silent as he considers the idea.]

All of my friends...? Hmm...I suppose I should, come to think of it.

Cut for length... )

[So Saleh goes to the shop obtains many dragon figurines. The following characters are definitely on his list: Kain Highwind, Rydia Highwind, Eleytheria, Silver (gameverse), Isaac, Zevran, and Leonhardt. However, he does pick up extras in case he missed anyone. So if your character has spoken to and gets along decently with Saleh but isn't on the list, he'll still have a gift for them.]
mountain_sage: (Fire)
[Those who find Saleh carrying on his normal routine, either in the forest, by the fountain in the plaza, or training in the Battle Dome, will find that he bears a heavy heart. He had heard from Isaac that Julia has been sent back to her world. Saleh had been quite fond of her, and hoped to form a greater friendship with her. Now that she's gone, he'll miss her dearly.]

[Just as disturbing are Isaac's near-constant brutal threats. During his contemplation, Saleh will steel himself for the eventuality that he would be forced to fight Isaac again, and be ready to give his all to defend himself. Even if it leads to the Forgemaster's death, which would only bring him unbearable regret. But he must be prepared regardless.]

[He's sure there were other friends that Julia had made, so they have the right to know as well. So he'll make the announcement on the journals.]

For everyone who knew her...Julia LaForeze has returned to her world.
mountain_sage: (Unbelievable)
[It's another day in the forest when Saleh runs into an odd creature. A tall, chubby dragon-like creature. Yellow, standing on hind legs, small teal wings...could this be...?]

[After fumbling with his journal for a bit, Saleh manages to activate the video function. The camera focuses on himself briefly before he turns it to focus on the Dragonite.]

Does anyone...recognize this? Is this...a Pokémon?

[For those who actually run into him, Saleh will be standing his ground, quite a bit on edge. At least this creature doesn't seem as volatile as the Charizard...]
mountain_sage: (Pondering Sage)
[The feed begins with silence, save for the sounds of turning pages. Saleh is searching backwards through his journal, trying to figure out the mystery in his mind. Since meeting Julia, he just knew that she looked familiar somehow...but he also knew that he hadn't met her before. Perhaps the journal would yield a clue, perhaps someone else who looked like Julia, or something else.]

[And then he finds it. The sketches that Isaac had drawn while he was cooped up in the clinic. One of them was a perfect likeness of Julia's face.]

Julia...!

[There are more aggressive page-turning sounds as Saleh flips to the current pag in his journal...only to realize that it is currently broadcasting.]

Oh, is this...? Forgive me...this wasn't meant to be heard. Pay me no mind.

[Well, that was awkward and embarrassing. At least Saleh won't mind explaining what that was about instead of trying to hide it. As the old saying goes, the truth will set you free.]

[Action]

[Later on, he'll head to the Welcome Center to check on the place while Rydia is absent. He'll also be gathering supplies for the New Feather stations. Feel free to catch him there.]
mountain_sage: (Fire)
Hmm...it's been a while since I've had my clothes mended.

[He's been meaning to do so anyway, but the recent battle has cemented it now that there's a nice little rip on the front of his cape and shirt. Overall, the fabric has become worn, and the colors were getting dull. So he'll head on to the clothing shop to find something to wear in the meantime. There are certainly a lot of interesting clothes from different worlds here, so Saleh will spend quite a bit of time pulling out different garments and feeling the different fabrics. He pulls out some denim jeans...they look pretty tight. A tuxedo? Interesting, but it doesn't seem very comfortable either. So he continues to rummage through the different clothes.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[It's February, and that love experiment should be coming up soon. Saleh would like to avoid it, but he's forgetting a rather important detail.]

That love holiday...what day was it again?

[Action/Locked to Isaac]

[As much as he'd like to avoid his journal, he doesn't cut himself off completely, in case an emergency arises. So he carries it with him as he goes into the forest for his daily communication with nature. So he sits in front of a tree, silently meditating and letting the world of nature fill his senses.]

[OOC: [As such, this post may contain triggers or otherwise disturbing/NSFW material.]
mountain_sage: (Unbelievable)
Ah...another New Feather cycle already? Has Luceti ever been this crowded before? I'll be in the forest if there are any who need assistance.

[And true to his word, Saleh will indeed be patrolling the forest, occasionally making his way through the village to restock on supplies for the New Feather stations.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
It has been a couple of weeks since the New Feather cycle began. I trust all of the new arrivals have gotten settled in by now? I am still keeping a regular watch in the forest to aid those who are lost.

For now, I shall take a night or two to camp by the lake. I'll have my journal with me in case anyone needs to contact me. Also, anyone is welcome to join me if they wish.

[True to his word, Saleh is setting up his tent and bonfire by the lake. He'll sit beside the bonfire, facing the lake, just taking in all the nature around him. Beautiful...]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[First, Saleh has a small, random inquiry.]

I have been curious of something as of late. Are there any citizens who have natural wings in their own world? Were your wings altered when you were brought into this world?

[Action]

[Since another New Feather Cycle is upon them, Saleh is once again attending to his duty in the forest. He visits the Welcome Center to pick up supplies, then carries them out to the New Feather stations. Once he replenishes the station, he'll tidy it up a bit, straighten out the sheets on the bed, and fold an extra blanket on top of it. When that's done, he'll pick up a sack with an extra blanket to take out into the forest in case he meets a freezing newcomer.]
mountain_sage: (Pose)
Great Dragon...

I've been thinking of something that was discussed some time ago...particularly of the transition between our own worlds and this one. People have come and gone from this world, but most of them lack the memory of having been here before.

This disturbs me greatly, the idea of losing the memories we gain in this world. I need to return to Magvel as soon as possible to fulfill my duty, but I'd not want to forget my time here. I had believed that my experience here would make me stronger, so that I may be better prepared to face what awaits me in my own world. But if we lose these memories, will our existence here be meaningless? The friends we've made, the knowledge we've learned, any strength we've found will be for naught. On the other hand, could it be different for different people? Are there any who were able to recall their time here upon returning to their own world?

The experiences throughout one's life, both good and bad, determine how we develop as individuals. To lose all of that is just...

[He trails off, as he ponders a word to describe the feeling of losing memories. Yet all he can draw is a blank...]

[Sometime later, after he recovers from his DP removal aftereffects, Saleh heads to the Battle Dome. He sets up the simplest scenario; a wide grassy field, with a slow-moving rotted zombie as his sole opponent. Saleh stands a good distance from the enemy with his Divine tome in hand. He casts his spell; a ball of light fires up from where he stands, dropping down on the creature. The zombie is instantly killed by the attack. Satisfied that his light magic ability has been restored, Saleh ends the scenario and leaves the simulation room.]

[It'll be easy to catch him going to or from the Battle Dome.]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
[After what feels like an eternity, Saleh finally awakens. His body feels like a deadweight, as he finds it incredibly difficult to move. Looking around, he manages to make out the entrance to the tunnels nearby. Does this mean it's over?]

[Slowly, he reaches into his robes and pulls out his journal, letting it fall open beside him. He takes a moment to gather what little strength he has to call out to the network.]

I...I need help...at the tunnels... Rydia...anyone... please...

[Hopefully that should do it. With that done, Saleh lets himself fall limp on the ground. As he waits, he attempts to take in the sights and sounds of the forest around him. His eyes are difficult to keep open, though, so he closes them softly, just taking in the sounds.]
mountain_sage: (Speechless)
[Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house he goes...]

[Saleh's making his journey in his red cloak, carrying his basket of goodies. Except he's not sure where to go after crossing the bridge.]

That's strange...I could have sworn this was the way to Grandmother's house.

[Help him out?]

[Or "eat" him?]

[OOC: Have a Little Red Riding Saleh, folks!]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
[Saleh starts his day by going to the Barracks, working on the mastery of his magic. He easily casts Elfire on the dummy, burning it to a crisp. And then he pulls out his Divine tome and extends his arm to cast the spell...but nothing happens. Startled, he tries again, but still no result. He then glances down at the incantation in the pages, and he could feel it. The deep understanding of the spell is lost. Guess who just discovered his death penalty.]

[Putting his tome away, he brings out his staff and releases its magic briefly. He sighs with relief; at least he can still heal. He takes a break from his training and picks up his journal.]

[Written]

Great Dragon...it seems I can no longer wield light-based magic. I can only assume that this is the penalty I have suffered for my recent death.

I had believed that I would give my life for my duty, to protect Lady Myrrh without hesitation. But my death these weeks past has made me rethink this. I gave my life to save Rydia without a second thought, an admittedly reckless move on my part. I just couldn't let her die. That was my only thought.

In my own world, I would not have the opportunity to reflect upon this. If anything, this makes me fear death even more. Soldiers would give their lives to protect their country, their families, their honor. I had felt the same. However, if I do lose my life, I can no longer fulfill my duty. It is a sacrifice that cannot be undone. And if this leads to failure, then the sacrifice would be for naught.

I realize that sometimes sacrifices must be made, but a life is too precious. One must think more carefully about making that ultimate sacrifice.

Great Dragon, I am so torn. Does this make me a coward?
mountain_sage: (Unbelievable)
[Saleh wakes up in the forest, feeling very disoriented. It takes him a moment to regain his bearings. What was he doing out here, and why is he just waking up?]

[He begins to think. He had just been in the clinic with Rydia, and something had happened. A woman was attacking, and Saleh had pushed Rydia out of the way. And now he was here. What happened to the woman, and is Rydia still all right?]

The clinic! Rydia! What is happening??

[The poor sage may need some help getting back, as he still feels weak from when Kusanagi had stabbed his dead body at different points...]
mountain_sage: (Solemn)
[Backdated to the afternoon.]

Most of the new arrivals should be settled in by now. I still wish to journey into the mountains again, but I would expect another experiment to happen again soon. So the beginning of the next month would be a more suitable time. Perhaps I could use a vacation...

If there are any new arrivals still in the forest who need assistance, contact me, and I can lead you to the village.

[And Saleh will patrol the forest, occasionally shooting a longing glance in the direction of the mountains...]
mountain_sage: (Official Gray)
[Saleh wakes up in the forest by the lake. He stands up, looking very confused. Why was he unconscious in the forest? He can't remember any sort of struggle. In fact, he doesn't even seem to be injured. Not physically, anyway.]

[He stands up and looks himself over, instantly noticing something amiss. His hands are...gray. His robes, his shoes, everything on his person is lacking in color. He vaguely recognizes this effect, but much more extreme than what he has seen. As he continues to stare at his hands, he wonders how long this effect will last. Since he's not injured, he'd better start heading for the village.]

[OOC: So here's the deal. Since I couldn't figure out what to do with Saleh during the event, I've decided to have him silently mallynapped for the duration. I had been wanting to do this for a while now, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. As for the effect, he's been affected with Silence, meaning he can't speak or use any of his magic. And he appears just as he does in the icon, completely grayscale. Have at him!]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
...It's been a whole year since I've arrived in Luceti. And still no closer to finding a way back to our own worlds.

Great Dragon, I only pray that Lady Myrrh is still safe.

[Saleh will spend the day restocking on his supplies at the grocery shop, and the head to the Battle Dome for some training. Feel free to bump into him at either destination or somewhere in between.]

It seems that this recent draft has gone well, for the most part. I only regret being such a burden on the first day…and an embarrassing one at that.

It sounds like new people are beginning to arrive once again. I shall be in the forest to assist those who may need it. Please contact me if there are any who need assistance in finding the village.

[And true to his word, Saleh will be patrolling the forests, his healing staff in hand.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[In light of the upcoming draft, Saleh will once again turn to the Great Dragon. He sits on the border between the village and the forest with his head bowed and his journal in his lap. Little does he know that his journal is currently broadcasting.]

Such dire circumstances and short notice…but I will not turn away. I will have my allies: Kain, Rydia, Ceodore…Jack…

Still, I would ask for your guidance, Great Dragon, for we shall fight on the morrow.

[He falls silent, taking in his surroundings via Valega, but the journal continues to record.]
mountain_sage: (Default)
Everyone, I will be training at the barracks, should you need me.

[Should anyone decide to bother the sage, they will indeed find him at the barracks, swinging a rapier at a stationary dummy. However, his form is terrible. He's gripping the weapon wrong, he's swinging harder than he should for such a light weapon, and he's swinging at the wrong angles. Plus, he stumbles from the momentum of each swing. And the dummy he's trying to attack hasn't even been touched yet. But it's all right. With enough practice, he'll eventually get the hang of it. Or will he?]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
Nearly six months have passed since I was brought here. I wonder what has become of Magvel in that time. Prince Ephraim was here when I arrived, but he was from the future. He said it was a good future, so has the crisis passed by now? Was I there when the crisis passed?

If people are brought here from different time points, how does that affect the time in our own worlds? Is it possible for us to be here and to be in their own worlds at the same time? Is it possible to know?

[He doesn't really expect it to be possible, but he would appreciate any input.]

[If anyone wishes to chat with him in person, he'll be sitting in front of the fountain in the plaza, letting the outdoor nature caress his senses. He takes in the sound of the fountain, and feels the cold air around him. He's used to the cold after living in the mountains throughout his life, and his cape keeps him warm enough.]
mountain_sage: (Chibi)
[Saleh is just leaving his community building to head into the woods when this latest "accident" decides to help him with that. Before he even realizes what was happening, he's in the air, falling uncontrollably towards a group of ducks on the lake's surface. He hits the water with a terrific splash, causing the ducks to quack loudly, flapping their wings in panic as they struggle to get away from the center point.]

[Regaining himself quickly, Saleh pops his head out, looking around briefly before swimming to the shore. A couple of the ducks see fit to chase him, flapping their wings over his head, splashing water at him. Saleh tries his best to ignore them as he stumbled out of the lake, his green cape dripping with water. Contrary to his plans, though, he decides to head back into the village after that.]

[So feel free to catch him falling into the lake, staggering to shore, or walking through the village all wet.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[Written]

There have been quite a few new arrivals in Luceti in the past week. I would keep watch for them, as well as those returned from their kidnappings. I almost wish I could see someone from my own world, but this is not the place for them to be. To wish them here would be selfish.

This last experiment has given me a new resolve. We have faced trying hardships in the past month alone, so it is doubtless that there will be more hardships ahead. May we grow stronger and wiser from it all. We are here to help one another, and together we will persevere.

[/Written]

[Action]

[Today the sage can be found sitting by the lake, enjoying the peace and quiet, something he hasn't seen in Luceti for a while. Feel free to join him.]
mountain_sage: (Default)
[Today, Saleh is one of those poor unfortunate souls who got himself caught in a Tron bike . The bike speeds through Luceti in wild zigzag patterns, leaving a blue wall in its wake. The race doesn't last long, though, as the bike eventually crashes violently into the fountain. When the smoke and bike parts disappear, Saleh stands up, shaken and stirred, but otherwise unharmed.]

[So, Luceti, have a dazed and confused sage staggering around the plaza.]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
...

[It's been a while since he's done this, so Saleh can be found in the forest just far enough from the village for it to be obstructed from view by the trees, once again meditating with his Valega. However, this time feels different. While taking in the sights and sounds of nature's creation, he could feel some different emotions stirring. Feelings of eagerness and kindness weren't exactly new for him, but these feelings didn't seem to originate from his heart. It soon dawned on him that there was a spirit connecting with him.]

Nala...such impeccable timing, to hear your voice...

[After being mallynapped, and hearing of these disturbances within the village, connecting with the healing spirit is like a breath of fresh air that calms his mind and soul.]

[He's too busy immersing himself in his surroundings to notice that his journal was broadcasting his sentiment.]
mountain_sage: (Solemn)
Ceodore, Rydia…I'm leaving the clinic now. Thank you for everything.

[Although directed to said people, it's not filtered.]

[After sleeping for several days straight, Saleh leaves the clinic to exercise his muscles and get them back into working order. He's just walking lightly around the plaza fountain now, watching his legs carefully as he puts one foot in front of the other. After a few minutes, weakness and exhaustion get the better of him again, and he sits on a bench to take a breather. He still looks tired and pale, but otherwise he's doing much better than before.]

[He pauses, pulling out his journal to address a minor question to the general population.]

How much time has passed?
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
[The Malnosso have dumped the young sage by the lake in the woods after they were through with him. He was right on the shore, with his lower body soaking in the lake. He has no physical injuries, but he's unconscious for the moment. His slow breathing is the only indication that he's actually still alive. His face cringes, as if he's straining himself, but he doesn't show any signs of moving anytime soon.]

[OOC: Saleh won't be able to move for a while (for at least a few hours), so I'm granting godmode rights to whoever wishes to help him. Carry him to his place, your place, the clinic, the New Feather station, wherever you like. So, have fun with it.]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
I heard Nala's voice today…I'm certain of it.

Mhm…if anyone sees a young girl with indigo hair, would you please contact me? I have something that belongs to her.

[Action]

[The sage can be found sitting with his back against the fountain, glancing up at the sky. He notices the strange constellation in the sky.]

[♥ THE GREAT ONE REIGNS!! ♥]
mountain_sage: (Default)
[Behind Community Building 5, Saleh has a lovely bonfire going, and he's stirring a pot of tea in preparation for Edward's proposed festival. Off to the side, he has an ice box containing cold fish that he'll begin to cook after the tea is finished brewing. He's got many skewers and trays set aside for the cooked fish. He's putting a lot of work into this, and he may need some help with carrying the load. For now, the tea's aroma will be strong near C5.]
mountain_sage: (Default)
[The recording starts as the journal falls to the ground with a thud. Saleh can be seen in the forest kneeling down to pick up a peculiar glistening yellow stone. It's far too easy to recognize the stone, knowing that there was no other stone like it.]

This is Lady Myrrh's…

Is she here?

[He picks up the journal and resumes his patrol, searching for a certain indigo-haired girl.]
mountain_sage: (Solemn)
I am interested in learning more about these Filial spirits. How do they communicate? Is there a danger in adding their magic to our own?

[There has to be, as Saleh already knows that using too much magic can be dangerous.]

[Now the sage is taking the time to explore the forest, mapping the locations of the New Feather stations for future reference.]
mountain_sage: (GBA)
[If anyone happens to be in the heart of the forest, they can find Saleh sitting in front of a tree. His posture is straight, and both his journal and healing staff are in his lap. He's not moving at all, as he appears to be deep in meditation or prayer. In reality, he's practicing his Valega, familiarizing himself with the nature in this world. He's so deep in contemplation, he certainly doesn't notice the journal recording his completely motionless figure.]
mountain_sage: (Serenity)
[This is totally unfiltered, because Saleh hasn't learned how to filter yet.]

Luceti…a world entirely separate from Magvel. Unbelievable. I still don't understand how I wound up here.

It's been three days. I haven't eaten at all since I've been here. I should find the village soon, as this hunger is beginning to take its toll.

[With the weather finally cleared, Saleh has finally come down from the mountains and is now dragging himself through the forest due west as directed by Ephraim. Climbing down the mountain is an exhausting feat, even for one who lives in the mountains. Between that and the hunger, Saleh's strength is almost depleted. Luckily, he spots a river nearby and makes a beeline for it. He falls to his knees, dropping the journal on the ground beside him, opening it. And then he gathers the water into his hands and drinks it eagerly. He'll repeat the drinking from his hands, catching his breath in between.]

[Are there any New Feather stations nearby? Will anyone help out a hungry New Feather?]
mountain_sage: (Default)
[It sure is cold up in the mountains on this rainy day. Saleh considers himself fortunate to have located his normal sage robes shortly upon awakening in this world. He ducks into the nearest cave to get out of the rain and catch his breath.]

Gerik? Ewan? Elder? Where is everyone? Or rather, what happened to me?

[A short pause.]

This is not Caer Pelyn. Great Dragon…
