003 [Accidental Video/Action]

[If anyone happens to be in the heart of the forest, they can find Saleh sitting in front of a tree. His posture is straight, and both his journal and healing staff are in his lap. He's not moving at all, as he appears to be deep in meditation or prayer. In reality, he's practicing his Valega, familiarizing himself with the nature in this world. He's so deep in contemplation, he certainly doesn't notice the journal recording his completely motionless figure.]

[Well, he did say he was going to try to familiarize himself with the place again after having been gone so long, and it wasn't like he had anything better to do. Sure, he'd love to spend more time with Tir, but he also needed time to just think to himself about what he's going to do now that they're both here.

So it probably wouldn't come to a surprise that he may end up a little too distracted and possibly trip on you, Saleh.]

[Normally it would be relatively difficult to disturb Saleh from his contemplation, but the boy tripping over him certainly does it. But oddly enough, he shows no physical reaction, other than batting an eye towards the boy.]

Are you all right?

[He doesn't sound angry or annoyed at all.]

[He didn't even really actually realize there was someone there until he tripped, eliciting a surprised yelp from Ted before he falls to the ground. The following question surprises him though, and he stares at the person for a moment, forgetting momentarily what he was thinking about.]

Ah, yeah. I am.

You should be more watchful of your surroundings.

[He says it mildly, just a bit of advice is all.]

Sorry about that. [He wasn't actually expecting anyone out here. In fact...] What are you doing way out here?

Merely connecting with the nature of this world.

[... Huh. He shifts his position a bit to sit in a more comfortable position.] Do you mean the spirits?

Spirits?

[He thinks about the guide he was given, and then remembers.]

You mean the Filial spirits? I would like to learn more about them, but currently I'm just contemplating the nature itself.

That's the first I heard of that here. [Though then again, it wasn't really all that uncommon.] What exactly are you contemplating about? [Small talk, he knew, but he supposed it was better than just walking up and going away. Speaking of which.]

How exactly do you connect to nature?

Simply immerse yourself in it. Take in all the sights and sounds, and bask in its beauty.

[Simple meditation, then.] It doesn't sound like something that you'd just give up on.

Perhaps. Unfortunately, there are some who lack the patience.

How about you? Why are you out here?

Can't say a lot of people like it out here, I guess.

I'm just familiarizing myself with the place. [Or rather, reconnecting with it. He's at least remembered enough not to get lost this time.]

Are you new to this place as well?

Not exactly. It's just been a while since I've been in this area. [Which was true anyway. Just that a while was around two years for him yet probably only a week or two for others.]

Mhm.

You mentioned the Filial spirits a few moments ago. What do you know of them?

Nothing the guide hasn't mentioned. I know that it's a lot easier contacting Nala than the rest of them though.

[A pause]

Then would you know where I can learn more?

Here is a good place to start. It really depends on who you're trying to contact.

[That...wasn't quite the answer he was looking for.]

I still have...many questions. Do they speak? How do they communicate? Will their magic intertwine with my own?

They don't speak like you and I do, if that's what you mean. You can't see them either. [He pauses, frowning a bit in thought. It's been more than two years since he's come in contact with a spirit, and even then he needs to actually try communicating with them again.] It's hard to explain how exactly it works, just that when you finally get in contact with them, you'll know.

As for that last one, I'm not sure. I don't think it's even their magic really, but more like something you draw from yourself. They're just teaching you how to do it. [At least, he highly doubted he would have learned it before if it had been outside magic. Besides, wasn't that mentioned in the guide?]

[Another pause as he ponders.]

I'll take it into consideration. Perhaps I should speak with others who have contacted these spirits.

That might be better. Some of them probably contact them frequently enough.
