024 [Written/Action]

Nearly six months have passed since I was brought here. I wonder what has become of Magvel in that time. Prince Ephraim was here when I arrived, but he was from the future. He said it was a good future, so has the crisis passed by now? Was I there when the crisis passed?

If people are brought here from different time points, how does that affect the time in our own worlds? Is it possible for us to be here and to be in their own worlds at the same time? Is it possible to know?

[He doesn't really expect it to be possible, but he would appreciate any input.]

[If anyone wishes to chat with him in person, he'll be sitting in front of the fountain in the plaza, letting the outdoor nature caress his senses. He takes in the sound of the fountain, and feels the cold air around him. He's used to the cold after living in the mountains throughout his life, and his cape keeps him warm enough.]

[Rydia, unused to the cooler weather, dislikes it and it probably shows. She isn't going to be so lazy or wasteful as to Warp everywhere, but she hates dressing more warmly, even if at the moment that amounts to adding leggings and a heavier cape to her usual outfit. Upon spotting Saleh at the fountain during, she nods over to him.]

Hello, Saleh.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a short pause before Saleh notices her presence. He then looks up at her.]

Rydia. Are you well?

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[She shrugs.]

I'm fine, just taking a break from the Welcome Center.

...I can't say I'm a fan of the cooler days, though.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad.

Hmm, I have grown accustomed to the cold weather from living in the mountains.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[A faint smile at that.]

I live in the mountains half the time, but it doesn't really help coping with the approaching winter. I guess living in a place where it didn't exist still affects me.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
[That certainly makes him curious.]

You have no winters in your world?

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
There are, but I lived underground for a long time. You can't have winter where weather itself doesn't really exist.

...may I?

[Meaning, can she join him at the fountain.]

Hopefully Kain won't get jealous...

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
I see. So you were able to keep warm underground?

[He can only imagine the underground being as cold as the mountains, except with no sunlight. He then responds to her request.]

Very well.

Only if Saleh behaved like AU!Vincent....

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't difficult to keep warm; the town I lived in had its own strange magic.

[She sits down, then, and stretches a bit.]

Quiet, isn't it? I thought we would have a flood of new people like last time, but there's barely been any.

Nah, but if Rydia got too attached to him...dot, dot, dot...

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. We had nothing special, really. Just pure nature. And that was really everything.

[He looks around a bit.]

How often do new people come here?

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rydia stares off, thoughtful.]

It used to be once a month, so when we began receiving New Feathers again, I thought that would again be the norm. Now...I'm not sure what will happen. Though if that means we'll have less people stranded in the middle of the woods during the winter, that can only be a good thing.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes...it would seem cruel to leave people in the woods during the winter...and with little clothing at that.

Even my own arrival was less than pleasant. I landed in the mountains, where I was forced to take shelter from the rain for three days before I could find my way to the village.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[She sighs at that, shaking her head.]</small. I wish I had known. I can use magic to get to any place I've been before, so I could have just brought you back.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's all right. It's in the past now, so there's no need to worry about it.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Still...it's incentive not to let that happen again, if at all possible. I don't want anyone to suffer such a fate. Though at least we now have those towers, thanks to Ted. I'm sure they will help.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, the towers are most convenient.

Are there others with warping abilities, to assist those who wind up in the mountains or at other greater distances from the village?

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods instantly.]

Yes, though I don't know the exact numbers. It's definitely something I'll want to bring up soon, though. Knowing who can do what in that regard would be extremely helpful.

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it would make for a more efficient process of assisting the new arrivals.

And please contact me if I can be of any assistance. I spend most of my time in the forest, so I will aid any newcomers I chance upon.

[identity profile] eidolon-soul.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rydia nods, with a quick smile.]

I shall. Thank you, Saleh. I'm sure that will be of help whenever they decide to send us more newcomers.

It's possible for us to be in both places, somehow. That or those from the future arrive from alternate timelines... who can say for certain.

Either way, the future in my world holds no interest for me. [And indeed, he's never going to ask the future people about it beyond the minor details he already knows.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm...I suppose that is possible as well. The only way to know would be to return home and experience the timeline for ourselves. Even then, we would not know if these alternate timelines truly exist.

[He pauses at the second statement.]

Are you sure? Have you heard anything about your world's future?

[He's still debating whether to get involved, and whether it's better to know or not to know.]

I've heard all that I care to know. The future isn't meant to be set in stone, and I'd prefer it remain that way.

[Voice]

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
That would probably be for the best. Just take care.

Indeed. Does your own future interest you?

[identity profile] mountain-sage.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
It does…I believe…

[He trails off into his chain of thought again.]

There was an ongoing crisis in my world when I was brought here. There was one other person from my world, who was from my future. He said that it was a good one in the end…but as I said, that was nearly six months ago. So I do not know if the crisis has ended, or if the future he spoke of is still yet to come. And as you say, the future is not set in stone, so I still cannot help but fear…

Lady Myrrh was still missing. Prince Ephraim said he had been protecting her, and I would trust him to do so…but has he found her in my time period?

That is why I need to return home. To fulfill my duty, to find the ominous energy spreading from the south that is likely causing the monsters to appear, and to put a stop to it. Regardless what others from the future would say, I would need to see it for myself.

I understand. It sounds important that you return. Were there any such threat to my world, I would be just as desperate to return. Not to mention an unfulfilled duty... [Kain technically has something like that, but he's determined that he's found all he needs here.]

From what I've heard, if they return us home, we somehow start where we've left off. Which is an unusual prospect if you spend a lengthy amount of time here.

It would seem unusual...and yet that is what I would hope.

You especially seem to need to continue where you left off.

Hmm...that also makes me curious. If time stands still in our worlds, will our time here affect us? I would like to think that our experience here will make us stronger, but if time stands still at home, we may lose what we have gained here.

It seems pointless to gain so much, only to lose it all...
