Hmm...it's been a while since I've had my clothes mended.

[He's been meaning to do so anyway, but the recent battle has cemented it now that there's a nice little rip on the front of his cape and shirt. Overall, the fabric has become worn, and the colors were getting dull. So he'll head on to the clothing shop to find something to wear in the meantime. There are certainly a lot of interesting clothes from different worlds here, so Saleh will spend quite a bit of time pulling out different garments and feeling the different fabrics. He pulls out some denim jeans...they look pretty tight. A tuxedo? Interesting, but it doesn't seem very comfortable either. So he continues to rummage through the different clothes.]

[ someone else has recently had a few recent brushes with garment-destroying battles. that, and retail therapy always calms the slayer's jumpy nerves. but today it had to be freetail therapy and she conducted her survey of the clothing store while solo.

after a while, she realizes that someone else has been there nearly as long as herself. so: ] Have you tried All Passions, too? I mean -- if you can't find something here, Shiki's place is worth a try.

[ her tone is flip and casual. she has no problems suddenly addressing a stranger. ]

[Saleh gives her an acknowledging glance. Yes, he recognizes her as someone who's been here for a long time, and he finds it a bit strange that they haven't spoken before. Although not too strange, as Saleh generally doesn't talk much.]

...No, I haven't...but perhaps I should. I've always been accustomed to the mage robes of Magvel.

[He slides a few more otherworldly outfits over on the hanging rack. Surely there had to be some kind of similar robes for magic users...]

Robes? Look, mister. Robes are very silver screen and all but -- summer's coming. Those things can't be good for the heat.

..."Silver screen?" How so?

[Yeah, pardon his lack of knowledge on the modern terms.]

I'm fine with wearing them during the summer. I've done it before. The cape can be easily removed if the heat does become uncomfortable.

Movie magic...it was a -- never mind.

[ she's learned not to get too worked up over her bad jokes being left unappreciated. ] What about...mid-July beach parties, huh? Don't tell me you hit the shore in robes, too.

I do...though I rarely get an opportunity to attend these parties.

Opportunity? Jeez, you just...show up. Though -- [ she hadn't attended too many, last summer. it had been a rough summer all around. ] With the docks getting busier, I'm not sure how that social space'll eventually pan out.

I stay quite busy. I rarely have time for leisurely activities.

[They have beach parties at the docks? He had thought these beach parties would be at the beach...]

...There is a beach, is there not? Where there used to be nothing but desert?

[ granted, a single dock is rather different from, say, a wharf. or a harbour. ]

There's a beach. But since folks started collecting boats, they've set up a dock right in front of the best part. But you're right -- it used to be no sea at all.

I remember...the desert was flooded during the draft in that Underwater Facility. That was...an interesting experience.

[A whole beach with nothing but sand and water, and maybe a few trees...]

...Which part is the "best part?"

...Were you on that draft?

[ she ignores his question -- for the time being, at least. the underwater facility draft was one of the very few she hadn't been involved in. ]

Yes...

[He remembers the draft well, and how everything seemed to go wrong, and some of his friends died because of it.]

[ her eyes drop to a pair of dark denim jeans, folding them and fidgeting with them. ]

I should've been on that one. [ the general had been there. he'd sent her his regards. ]

[ Serah happens to be milling around the clothing store also, glad that the craziness from the past few days seems to have mostly subsided. She's found it kind of fun to rummage through clothing from various worlds herself. Today, she's wearing her usual attire rather than the New Feather get-up. Thankfully. ]

Are you looking for a new outfit, too? [ She thinks she recognises his voice from when she first arrived, but she doesn't want to assume. So, friendliness is a good second option. ]

[Saleh gives her a glance as well. He recognizes her easily.]

Yes...at least temporarily. My clothes are in need of...a little work.

[And she'll be able to see the dirt and tears in his cape, and the faded edges.]

[ She laughs slightly, smiling good-naturedly.] I can see that. Did you get into some sort of scrape?

[ Headtilt. ] And... you're Saleh, right? Thanks again for your help.

Well, they had been fading for a while, but...I recently had a sparring battle...which I lost. That's where this came from...

[He points to the cut across his chest area. Fortunately, the cut on his flesh has healed, but the cut is still easily visible in his clothes.]

Yes, I am. And you are...Serah? Have you settled in well?

... Some new clothes seem like a good idea, then. [ She glances briefly back at the racks, hand to her chin. ] It's handy that the weather's warm, at least. And that the clothes are free.

[ She nods, in answer to his question. ] My sister's here, as well as a friend from back home... it's been a lot easier, with them around too.

Yes...I just...don't know what to wear...

[He slides more outfits across the hanging rack again, but most of these clothes just don't look comfortable...]

I see. I suppose it helps to have people you already know and trust here.

Well, let's see... [ Serah searches through the rack too, coming across some of the more bizarre outfits herself. ] ... a tuxedo? That's a little out of place. [ Searching, searching. Eventually she picks out a shirt, except... it happens to be a very vibrant shade of orange. ] Something like this might work, except... um, maybe not so bright.

[ She continues looking through items, humming thoughtfully. ] Yeah, it helps a lot. Is... anybody from your world here?

[Yeah, Saleh will actually cringe at the bright shade of orange.]

That...is a little too bright.

[As for people from his world, there was Prince Ephraim in the beginning, but Saleh hadn't known him at the time.]

No...I've been alone for almost two years...

There must be more neutral colours in here somewhere. [ She continues to rifle through the hangers, until she happens across a plain grey shirt. It's hidden underneath a particularly unique jacket, which she carefully replaces. She holds up the shirt, though. ] How about this?

[ As she holds it up, she gives him a tiny frown. ] I'm... sorry to hear that. I didn't realise people could be here for that long.

[The jacket really makes him raise a brow, but the shirt might be doable.]

Hmm...that might work for a while...

It is possible. I believe a few people have even been here as long as four years. I believe that's how long this...situation...has been going on. People have been coming and going, so it is a small few that have remained here through all of this time.

At least until you get your normal clothes patched up, I guess. [ She holds the shirt out to him. ]

And even after all that time... no one's found a way out without disappearing? But still... everyone's in the same situation. Maybe it's not so bad if we can help each other out.

[He'll take the shirt and hold it in front of his chest. Does it look good on him?]

[Now to find some pants to go with it...]

Well...there was a recent experiment in which some of us were able to return to our home worlds for a day, under the condition that we had to bring one person from another world with us. So I do hope this means they're making progress on being able to send everyone home permanently.
